Journal of Griffith Evans, 1784, Aug. 30 - 1785, Nov. 13.

The journal that Evans kept during his travels to Fort Stanwix and Fort McIntosh. The entries cover the period between Aug. 30, 1784 and Feb. 8, 1785, the date of his return home. There are also some miscellaneous accounts, promissory notes, ect. dated April and May 1785.

Griffith Evans was bon in Warwick, Chester Co., Pa. During the American Revolutionary War, he served as clerk in the medical corps of the Continental Army. After the close of the war, he was appointed secretary and storekeeper of the Pennsylvania commissioners who represented the state at the negotiations with the Six Nations nations at Fort Stanwix and the Wyandots, Delawares, Ottawas, and Chippewas at Fort McIntosh (January 1785).
